CHP Energy Centres

Hotels

Different types of hotel present different challenges in the provision of heat. An airport hotel could expect to have steady demand from arrivals through the day. On the other hand, a hotel in the country would probably show demand peaks during say, 2 hours in the morning and another 2 in the evening. The second case would require larger thermal storage capacity, to allow the peaks to be met without having to call on the back-up boiler.

Each LoadTracker CHP storage vessel comes with a series of thermal probes, which provide information to the control panel about the status of storage contents. Vessels are mounted with their axis placed vertically. Inside the vessel, an upper layer of water is maintained at flow temperature and a lower layer is kept at return temperature. When LoadTracker thermal storage is called on to deal with a demand heat surge, it does so using high grade heat from the top. This is the water at flow temperature, which has remained undiluted by any mixing with return water lower down the vessel.

Hotel operators value LoadTracker CHP for its ability to provide long running hours, thus maximising cost savings from site-generated electricity. Anticipated annual cost benefits are a vital component of the LoadTracker CHP assessment programme. Given basic load data, SAV-Systems will undertake this analysis for any project proposal, resulting in some being declined. However, for those projects that do show promise, the client can expect to receive excellent value for money!
